Katharina Riedl

Katharina Riedl is an architect with a strong focus on hands-on building, natural materials, and regenerative construction practices. Originally from Austria, she now lives permanently in Switzerland and works as a freelance architect and construction manager, specialising in wood, clay, straw and lime. A qualified clay specialist and graduate of the CAS Regenerative Materials programme at ETH Zurich is researching the links between the reuse of building components and care. Engaged in collaborative, experimental, and self-determined construction, she has contributed to projects such as the Zentralwäscherei Zurich and initiatives focusing on alternative housing. She is part of Bau-Teilen, critically examining the construction industry, and works with gemeinsam bauen wir neu and Netzwerk Avanti on FINTA+ Bauen projects promoting visibility for women, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people in construction.
