Insomnia Salon | Gone with the Wind
24 July 9 pm
Thomas Mann House (Skruzdynės g. 17, Nida)
The NAC Nightlife Events Programme is a series of collaborative events played out at local bars, clubs, and other friendly institutions in Nida, scattered throughout the summer.
The second event of the programme in July is organized by Kaunas Artists' House. Insomnia Salon | Gone with the Wind is a performative reading of love letters by Lithuanian LGBTQ+ authors of various generations with Agnė Jokšė, Artūras Tereškinas, Denisas Kolomyckis, Janina Sabaliauskaitė, Monika Kalinauskaitė, and Veronika Šleivytė.
The Insomnia Salon series, initiated and curated at KAH by Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė, aims to expand the context of insomnia and to analyze various cultural phenomena related to sleep disorders. To what extent is insomnia associated today with creative processes, or is it a part of anxiety, insecurity, nightmares, exhaustion, or general boredom? All of these issues related to insomnia, sleep disorders and their symptoms are discussed in the salon.
Kaunas Artists’ House strives to keep up with the contemporary tendencies of culture and art by organizing cultural, educational events and programs of professional artists from Lithuania and abroad with special focus on young artists.
The reading is curated by artist Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė and curator, cultural manager, and cultural journalist Edvinas Grinkevičius as a part of the NAC Nightlife Events Programme and the series of Insomnia Salon of the Kaunas Artists' House Reading Room in partnership with Vilnius Queer Festival Kreivės and Thomas Mann House.
The project is co-funded by Lithuanian Council for Culture.
