As part of a series of events marking Neringa’s 587th birthday and the educational cluster programme on the grounds of the Neringa Forest Classroom this week, NAC is showing ‘Forest Workshops’, a film by Neringa Forest Architecture in collaboration with the Mustarinda Association. The film, originally created for the Children’s Forest Pavilion installation in Venice, has been adapted for screenings in Lithuania with Lithuanian subtitles.
The two-screen video documents outdoor workshops held with schoolchildren in the Paljakanvaara old-growth forest in Finland and the cultural landscape of the Curonian Spit in Lithuania. Narrated by Rita (Nyyskä) Nykänen, the film shows these two ecosystems and follows the process of children learning to read the complex interrelations between species.
Workshops by the Mustarinda Association with children from Puolankajärvi and Hyrynsalmi comprehensive schools were held in October 2022 at Paljakanvaara Forest, Finland. Workshops by Neringa Forest Architecture and Mustarinda Association – Riitta (Nyyskä) Nykänen with children and educators from Young Forest Friends from Kretinga and Neringa gymnasium were held in December 2022 at Neringa Forest, Lithuania.
If you would like to show the film at your school or any other context, reach out to Neringa Forest Architecture info@neringaforestarchitecture.lt.
