Nele Brökelmann lives and works in The Hague. Seeking to challenge either/or thinking, she investigates the human need for structures of meaning, and the perpetual search for and fabrication of meaning. The concepts of distance, repetition and parallelity are recurring themes in her work. She is part of the artist-duo waterybeings, writes for the Dutch contemporary art magazine Metropolis M, curates and moderates the film screening series Matters of Being at the artist initiative iii in The Hague, teaches at the ArtScience Interfaculty in The Hague, and researches artistic processes together with the writer’s platform and artist in residence Witte Rook in Breda. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from St. Joost in Breda and a Master of Music from the ArtScience Interfaculty in The Hague.
