This dynamic conversation features a diverse group of individuals who have worked tirelessly to raise awareness, support disability rights, foster radical exclusivity centreing trans and BIPOC communities, as well as archive queer experiences within the vibrant and ever-evolving world of nightlife. This conversation by individuals who have dedicated themselves to challenging norms, promoting inclusivity and accessibility, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome is an invitation to come together and explore how nightlife is a site of joy and it can evolve into a more caring, diverse, and empowering realm for all. Nightlife serves as a vital space for self-expression, connection, and community building. However, it is crucial to recognise that not all individuals have equal access to these spaces, and many face barriers due to their intersecting identities. This panel discussion seeks to shed light on the experiences of those who have dedicated their efforts to making nightlife safer and caring as well to create spaces where radical imagination for queer futures can happen. The panellists, consisting of activists, artists and community organisers, share their personal journeys, challenges, and successes in their respective fields. Through their work, they have strived to create spaces that celebrate and uplift marginalised communities, ensuring that everyone feels seen, heard, valued, and supported. The discussion delves into various aspects, including:
● Awareness and education: Panelists explore the importance of raising awareness about the challenges faced by different communities within nightlife and discuss strategies for fostering a more inclusive environment.
● Disability rights and accessibility: The panel highlights the initiatives and innovations that have aimed to enhance accessibility and support for people with disabilities in nightlife spaces.
● Radical exclusivity centreing Trans and BIPOC communities: The panellists will share their experiences in dismantling exclusionary practices and discuss the significance of centreing the experiences and voices of transgender and BIPOC individuals.
● Archiving queer experiences: Recognising the rich history and cultural significance of queer nightlife in Lithuania, the panel will explore the importance of documenting and preserving these experiences to ensure they are celebrated and remembered.
