There is one residency available in November 2011 and two residencies in December 2011. Apply for these as soon as possible.
Dates and duration of the residencies: 1 to 4 months between February 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012.
Keywords: Fluxus sand, the Baltic Sea as a medium, labyrinths of forest paths, smoked fish, solitude, landscape meditation, mind massage, contemplating the ten-meter-high studio space, migrating from water to water, media lab, beaches and breeze, reinventing tradition, creative sunbathing.
Nida Art Colony invites artists, designers, architects, curators, and art researchers to meet the coming spring on the Baltic Sea coast in the Curonian Spit National Park. The Colony was opened in March 2011 as a new branch of the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania).

CALL FOR RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS
Time and inspiring solitude are becoming the most important values today, and these are plenty at Nida Art Colony. The residency in Nida will meet your expectations if:
- the intensity of urban life – curators, openings, presentations – consumes all of your time and leaves you without energy to concentrate on artistic practice
- you are working with site-specific projects involving local communities, reflecting on the natural and/or cultural environment
- you love coincidences and want to meet artists from all over the world in order to collaborate with them now or in the future
- you are looking for a big studio and space for experiments – the whole forest and the whole beach can be your studio

Dates and duration of the residencies: 1 to 4 months between February 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012. There is one residency available in November 2011 and two residencies in December 2011. Apply for these as soon as possible.
Grants: one grant from the local Municipality is available to artists focusing on local social and cultural issues. Other selected candidates are issued a letter of support for individual grant seeking.
Costs: studio and living space rent is 312 Eur/month, including all taxes, use of equipment, communal spaces, bicycles and the minivan.
Conditions: the Colony offers the necessary living and socializing facilities that ensure comfortable and unobtrusive coexistence of the five artists-in-residence. Each of the five residencies is set out on two floors, has 65 sq. m of floor space, and features all the necessary facilities; a 600-metre walk down a forest path from the Colony is a beach with sand dunes. Location. Nida Art Colony is located on the Curonian Spit, which is a 98 km long peninsula separating the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. The Curonian Spit is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of the most beautiful and unique cultural landscapes of Europe.

European Pépinières Programme Call for Residency Applications for Young Artists

The European Pépinières for Young Artists is currently calling for proposals within two frameworks: the map 2011-2012 programme and the M4m programme.
map 2011-2012
The map 2011-2012 programme is a extension of the map programme, which has been initiated by the Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes. In order to address the different movements of the young generation of artists, this program offers a panel of artists mobility concepts led by partner places. It is open to artists between 18 and 35 years old, living in one of the program’s member countries:
Austria – Belgium – Bulgaria – Cyprus – Czech Republic – Denmark – England – Estonia – Finland – France – Germany – Greece – Hungary – Iceland – Ireland – Italy – Latvia – Lithuania – Luxembourg – Malta – Netherlands – Poland – Portugal – Quebec, Canada – Romania – Serbia-Montenegro – Scotland – Slovakia – Slovenia – Spain – Sweden – Turkey.
This residency must be outside of their country of origin and/or residence.

Welcome to our residency Open Artists' Studios on Saturday (27.08.2011) starting from 16.00 and continuing until 20.00.

Extra project will also show the works-in-progress produced in Nida residency: M.A.R.I.N. project "Cartography and Everyday at Sea".
Artists involved: Kelly Andres, (CA), Karla Brunet (BRA), Niki Passath (AT), Mirae Rosner (CA), Jesse Scott (CA) and Tapio Mäkelä (FI).
M.A.R.I.N. is a nomadic residency programme for artists working with art and science in the context of the sea and littoral zones. At Nida, artists work mostly with cartography and ecologically motivated projects.

Skalvijos kino akademijos filmų peržiūra kolonijoje 08.13

ŠEŠTADIENĮ (08.13) 17.00 val. sukurtų filmų peržiūra.
Per pastarąsias smarkiai atvėsusias keturias dienas „Skalvijos“ kino akademijos studentai įrodė, kad kiną galima kurti bet kokiu oru – lietaus, vėjo ir audrų neišgąsdinti jauni žmonės ketvirtą dieną darbuojasi Nidos meno kolonijoje.
Dešimt vyresnio mokyklinio amžiaus moksleivių kartu su kino režisieriumi Maratu Sargsyan, kino operatoriais Simonu Glinskiu ir Narvydu Naujaliu kuria du vaidybinius trumpametražius filmus, kuriuos vienija kūrybinių kino dirbtuvių tema: „Vakar buvo pasaulio pabaiga“. Anot stovyklos vadovo, tema buvo pasirinkta neatsitiktinai: „Kūrybinės kino dirbtuvės vyksta gražiausiame Lietuvos kampelyje – Nidoje. Jūra, kopos, smėlis, jauni bei ambicingi žmonės ir įkvepianti aplinka – visa tai skatina fantazuoti ir galvoti ne apie kasdieniškus dalykus“.
Kūrybinės kino dirbtuvės prasidėjo prieš kelias savaites Vilniuje – rugpjūčio pradžioje stovyklos dalyviai susirinko „Skalvijos“ kino centre pasidalinti idėjomis ir kurti scenarijų. Tuomet sekė aktyvus susirašinėjimas ir komunikavimas, kol iš dešimties idėjų buvo pasirinktos dvi. Kelionės metu pasiskirstę į kūrybines komandas ir pasidalinę vaidmenimis, atvykę į Nidą, studentai pradėjo ieškoti filmavimo aikštelių ir kitą dieną jau buvo nupieštos kadruotės, sudarytos planuotės, ir prasidėjo įdomiausia kūrybinių dirbtuvių dalis – filmavimai su profesionalia kino technika. Jaunieji kino kūrėjai įgyvendino savo vizijas – sudėtingos scenos buvo filmuojamos prie šėlstančios jūros, Parnidžio kopoje bei Nidos centre. Praeiviai, tapę kai kurių masinių scenų dalimi teigė: „Smagu matyti jaunus žmones kuriančius kiną, o svarbiausia, kad jų visų akyse spindi kūrybinės ugnelės ir entuziazmas“.
„Skalvijos“ kino akademijos kūrybinių vasaros kino dirbtuvių filmų premjera numatoma šį šeštadienį, rugpjūčio 13 d., 17 val. Nidos meno kolonijoje (Taikos g.43, Neringa). Moksleivių sukurtus filmus apie gyvenimą po pasaulio pabaigos bus galima išvysti ir Vilniuje rugpjūčio 25 d. „Skalvijos“ kino centre vyksiančių „Skalvijos“ kino akademijos atvirų durų dienos metu. Renginiai nemokami.

Nidos meno kolonijos videoscena kitam krante festivalyje Satta Outside

Nidą kaip ir Vilniaus dailės akademijos Nidos meno koloniją galima atrasti kitam krante, persikėlus keltu. Nidos meno kolonija (NMK) festivalio Šventojoje Satta Outside metu tampa videomeno ir videodalybų vieta – iš jos autobusiuko transliuojamas vaizdas ant ekrano kitame Šventosios upės krante. Programa ir papildo Rave‘o muziejaus idėją siūlydama festivalio dalyviams įsijungti į festivalių videoistorijos kūrimą, ir pristato savo menininkų-rezidentų videofilmus sukurtus rezidencijoje Nidoje ir ankstesniu metu.
