WebJs performance and Letmekoo residencies are migrating to the web
- Published on Thursday, 15 December 2011 10:09
"We saw the art action, WebJs, at the Nida Art Colony (a brand new residency department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania) as an event in the Derridean and/or Foucaultian sense. A mix of eight weeks research and an endless stream of internet data resulted in a five hour performance on the 18th December where seven artists, 54 livestream viewers and 89 visitors were involved. The performance was transmitted in real time over the net. Visitors to the Nida Art Colony were invited to enjoy walking with a laptop computer around the space to appreciate the Mackenzian state of being – wirelessness." This is how WebJs curator puts in his text about 8 weeks residencies organised by him and produced by Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists' Association (www.letmekoo.lt).
The new project website has just been launched with all the documentation http://www.webjs.lt.
You can also experience WebJs performance with artists statements in the 15 min. video made by eminent Lithuanian video artist Evaldas Jansas.

It´s OK, They Live Here! - an exhibition of Colony residents at the supermarket Maxima in Nida
- Published on Friday, 04 November 2011 07:07
We welcome you to the Nida Maxima* for our opening the 5th of November at 17:00 O'clock:
It is an exhibition at Maxima by the artists in residence of the Nida Art Colony.
The title of this show comes from a chance meeting between one of the colony's artists in residence and a local woman just after they had come a across two big moose in the forest - the local woman consoles the artist with the words: It´s OK, they live Here!
"They" in this sense could just as well refer to us, the moose or the locals.
Sincerely, The Residents:
Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir 1979 (Icelandic artist based in Sao Paulo)
Darius Miksys 1969 ( Lithuanian artist based in Vilnius)
Eva-Fiore Kovacovsky 1980 (Swiss artist based in the Netherlands)
Liddy Scheffknecht 1980 (Austrian artist based in Vienna)
Renata Heredia 19-- (Lithuanian artist based in Vilnius)
Robertas Narkus 1983 (Lithuanian artist based in Vilnius)
Irma Stanaityte 1972 ( Lithuanian artist based in Vilnius)
Tessa Androutsopoulos 1981 (Finnish artist based in Helsinki)
