Alisa Oleva invites everyone to come to Nida Art Colony’s Garden to engage with listening to the sounds of a far away garden in Ukraine.

This is an extended invitation from her recent project in Leeds, UK, with Compass Live Art and is an opportunity to create one more portal between places and homes. The listening session will happen in the part near the fireplace. There will be a speaker streaming live sounds directly from Kamianske, from Dasha Zakharets’s family garden, and you are welcome to come and sit and listen to them as long as you feel like. Please remain silent to allow others to listen and feel free to engage with conversations/reflections on what you heard in other parts of the building.

There will also be a listening journal near the speaker in which you are welcome to draw/write/doodle in response to the far away sounds.

NAC has been a temporary place of habitat for people from various paths and homes. Alisa invites you to reflect on the sounds of homes we bring with us when we move. This work is also committed to bring attention to the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia and how it affected families and communities.
