The aim of the summer practicum “Resort Spirit” is creative collaboration, bringing together first to third-year students from the Textile and Fashion program at the VDA Kaunas Faculty and students from the VDA Fashion Design program.

During the practicum, a creative laboratory – workshop will take place, where students, using textile (fabric-based object) and fashion creation and documentation tools, will develop projects inspired by the stories of Neringa. By creating and interpreting visions of the past and the future, they will shape characters – symbolic storytellers of the resort, revealing transformations of local identity through material and form.

The objectives of the summer practicum program are: to interpret a creative idea based on the practicum theme; to create a creative laboratory focused on material-based media, emphasising visions of the past and the future; to experiment with traditional textiles by combining them with materials found in nature; to work in groups, developing character concepts that convey the story and evolving identity of Neringa through movement, form and the body; to foster creative dialogue within groups. In the creative workshops, we will apply the following methods – collaboration and group work, expeditions, creative thinking, site exploration, observation and experimentation. Students will share their experiences and apply acquired knowledge in open and site-specific environments, based on object study analysis, practices of movement in time and space. During the summer practicum, we will encourage idea development and creative exploration through collaboration, share experiences of reinterpretation practices and organise open discussions and presentations of creative work.

The created concepts/objects/prototypes will be presented in Nida and the spaces of Nida Art Colony, and will also be applicable for VDA communication.
