In Resonance with Ruderal Roots is an art project that fosters an embodied connection between the artist and alder trees—a pioneer species that thrives in disturbed environments but can become invasive over time. The project involves becoming an attentive follower of these trees, engaging with them through sensory experiences—recognizing familiar patterns, foraging, and creating ink from the trees and the materials around them. This journey of exploration culminates in drawing, where the act of making mirrors the intimate and evolving relationship with the alders.

Tsuchimoto invites viewers to engage with this research process firsthand, offering handmade ink for experimentation during the open studio.

Organised by Hiroko Tsuchimoto as part of her NAC artist residency.
