Radiant Center is a four-channel sound installation that examines how border security practices, media technologies, and geological environments reverberate across the Russian-Lithuanian border on the Curonian Spit, a peninsula along the southeastern Baltic Sea coastline.
The installation combines recordings of radio communications, broadcast programs, and other electromagnetic emissions associated with border security and atmospheric science with field recordings documenting how aeolian forces sonically resonate across the Spit’s physical features. Through a practice of embodied listening, the project investigates the border and the wind as media infrastructures that are simultaneously local and global, geopolitical and ecological, mobile and emplaced.
