How do books, as vessels of cultural memory, shape our understanding of a landscape’s history and identity? This curated event, featuring books from Viktoras Miliūnas Public Library of Neringa, invites visitors to explore the rich, intricate, and multifaceted narratives of the Curonian Spit—a place where history, myth, and nature intertwine. At the same time, it considers how these books can inform new associations, unexpected links, and broader connections, encouraging reflection on how archives are formed and how one might create their own.
Researcher and graphic designer Deimantė Jasiulevičiūtė presents a large selection of books gathered during her residency at Nida Art Colony—each acting as both a repository and a catalyst of memory. Through images, words, and symbols, these books bridge past and present, revealing layered histories and hidden narratives. This exhibition offers insight into Deimantė’s process, tracing how books and their contents inform her research and artistic practice—generating new reflections through acts of gathering, cataloging, and archiving.
Visitors are invited to browse, read, annotate, question, and engage—creating a space for collective discovery, where new narratives and connections can emerge. A listening session by A. Certo will accompany the exhibition, adding another layer of reflection through sound.
