Zorana Unković
Zorana Unković is a visual artist, researcher and expressive art therapy practitioner based in Zagreb. Her work sprouted from exploring and mapping the unconscious body (physical, emotional and intellectual). Deriving from theories of social and eco feminism and anarchism, including art pedagogy and expressive art therapy, her work deals with mental health and the female body as forms of resistance as well as human existence as a subversive act. Working with various mediums (drawing, painting, written word, handcraft, performance, sound, photography, etc.) Unković explores the female role in society, the patriarchal and capitalist influence on identity of the working class, mental health, queer bodies and radical bodies, body exhaustion, rituals, symbolism, tradition and various dichotomies of the material world. Her PhD is a transgenerational study on four different sources of shame (religion, societal norms, upbringing and relationships) and how they impact the forming of the female identity.
