Indrė Liškauskaitė
Indrė Liškauskaitė is an interdisciplinary artist and curator based in Vilnius, Lithuania. With a background in painting and textile studies, Liškauskaitė is currently undertaking doctoral studies in Visual Arts at Vilnius Academy of Arts.
In her doctoral research project ‘Human Behaviour’, the artist is investigating the complexity of human and non-human animal relations. Her research adapts the method of playing, and through interaction with her dogs – through games, sounds and the sports they play– she is analysing the social, cultural and philosophical influences that have shaped human animal relations with the canine species. Liškauskaitė’s practice and play-based research is deeply influenced by Donna Haraway’s writings about philosopher dog agility sport experience in her book When Species Meet (2008). The artist became actively involved in agility sport training and competing with her companion species and using her experiences for developing various media artworks and note systems.
