In this practicum, creators come together to reflect on their own impermanence and the ways in which they construct cultural symbols in an effort to take root in sand dunes like those surrounding Nida, near the ever-changing sea. Participants include students from the Vilnius Academy of Arts and the European Humanities University. They explore the challenges of their cultural heritage and seek creative responses to them.
The landscape of Neringa serves as an archive of cultural semiotic creation – a place where new meanings and symbols emerge from the natural environment and its constantly shifting forms. During the practicum, participants reflect on their creative responses to the need for connection with heritage. The resulting artworks will be presented in a group exhibition to be held in Vilnius in autumn 2025.
