Seraina Rohner
Seraina Rohner is a carpenter based in Zurich. She obtained her EFZ certification in woodworking carpentry in 2016 and later took over the workshop from Hansruedi Ilg. In 2017, she co-founded the collective Schreinerei am Fluss with a fellow carpenter, where she continues to work alongside Manuel Perriard and is currently training an apprentice. In 2020, Rohner and Dshamila Wörnhard initiated the first meetings for women, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender craftspeople and technicians in Zurich and beyond. They also organised DIY empowerment workshops, which led to the formation of the association gemeinsam bauen wir neu. Her work engages with traditional handcraft, the history of the working class, and the question of how manual woodworking labour can become more feminist and diverse.
