Katri Naukkarinen

Katri Naukkarinen is an artist, researcher, and curator based in Helsinki. She is a doctoral researcher at Aalto University, from which she graduated with an MFA with exchange studies at Tama Art University. She also holds a BA in Aesthetics from the University of Helsinki.  

Naukkarinen has held several solo exhibitions, organised and participated in many group exhibitions, prepared publications and undertaken prestigious residencies, such as AIAV, Méduse and Saari. As part of the 2022 Helsinki Darkroom Festival, she curated an analogue photography exhibition of 28 artists at Hippolyte Korjaamo. In addition to her personal work, she is part of The Atomic Kinship project and the Helsinki Feministinen Salaseura collective.

Besides her artistic work, Naukkarinen promotes culture politics and the cause of artists through various board activities. She is currently vice chair of the Foundation of the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York, vice chair of the Association of Photographic Artists in Finland, deputy member of the Finnish Artists’ Association and a member of the Finnish Darkroom Association.
