Aya Soika
Prof Dr Aya Soika is Professor of Art History at Bard College Berlin and conducts research in the field of modern art. She was, among other roles, co-curator of the exhibitions Emil Nolde – A German Legend, The Artist during National Socialism (Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery of Contemporary Art, Berlin) and Escape into Art? The Brücke Artists during National Socialism (Brücke Museum Berlin). As the author of the catalogue raisonné of Max Pechstein’s oil paintings, she is particularly interested in the relationship between art historical methods and their application. Aya Soika is also co-editor of the Handbook Catalogue Raisonné, published in March 2023.
