DIRECTIONS HOW TO REACH NIDA ART COLONY

To reach NIDA ART COLONY, you have to take a ferry from Klaipėda to Smiltynė (5 min) and take the main road for 45 km by public or private transport. The closest airports are Palanga (86 km, 1,5 hours), Kaunas (270 km, 3 hours), Vilnius (357 km, 4,5 hours) and Riga (Latvia, 357 km, 5 hours). Low cost airlines Ryanair, Wizzair and Airbaltic serve all these airports.

If you need cheap ACCOMODATION in Vilnius, you can try Arts Academy Hostel - it is not fancy but located in the very old town of Vilnius and asks only 16 EUR for a single room (online reservations are not possible but we can reserve for you a room by phone if you are our resident).

Firstly you have to arrive to KLAIPEDA by bus, train or airport shuttle Airport Express. From Klaipeda bus or train station you can take a cab (2,5 km, ~25 min on foot, taxi ride ~7 min - agree the price before entering ~3-4 EUR) and you will reach Old (1st) Ferry Terminal which brings only passengers and bicycles to Smiltyne - another side of the lagoon (ferry timetable). Ferry ride takes around 7 minutes ( costs 0,8 EUR) and right next to the ferry there is a bus stop for buses from Smiltyne to Nida (bus timetable). Timetable of buses is adjusted to ferries but ferries run more often than buses - check timetable.

The last ferry from the Old Ferry port during the off-season (October-May) is at 9 pm. If you arrive later, you should go to the New (2nd) Ferry terminal which is further away and it carries also cars (no public buses on the other side available!). The last ferry is 00.10 am, but you have inform us and arrange pick-up from another side of the lagoon (individual pick-up is available only in case of emergencies and for extra charge).

To get from Palanga International Airport to Klaipėda bus station, you can use the red buses (No. 100) which depart from 2 to 8 times per day. It depends on the season and the number of flight passengers. Normally the bus takes Wizzair passengers from the London (Luton) flight to Klaipėda at 1:30 p.m.; it costs 0,72 EUR, and the trip takes about 35 minutes. You can reach Palanga from Klaipėda with the same bus at 10:40 a.m.; it costs 1,10 EUR and takes 40 minutes. Please check the timetabes of the bus departures here.
