Marta Vosyliūtė (LT) (b. 1976) is a scenographer, painter, culture critic, and artist. In 1999 she graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts with a BA in scenography, followed by an MA in 2001, and a postgraduate degree in 2006. Since 2000 Marta has been taking part in exhibitions. Lives and works in Vilnius.

Marta Vosyliūtė is one of the winners of the 16th Vilnius Painting Triennial competition. During the residency Marta is going to draw comics.

Being a musician by training – Christoph Sökler (DE) has worked as an opera singer for over ten years – he has always been interested in how we speak, think or write about music and in how the relationship of music with the other arts can be thought, experienced and worked with in artistic practice. For nearly ten years now Christoph has studied philosophy and psychoanalysis in order to work on such questions in the framework of contemporary aesthetics and art theory. Since 2014 Ch. Sökler is a PhD research fellow in Aesthetics at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design.

During his residency Christoph will focus on a special project in the broader frame of his work about the “Musicality of Aesthetics” which is closely linked to Immanuel Kant’s third critique via a Lacanian and Deleuzian reading of Kant’s Aesthetics of Music. Taking up artworks which deal with the special landscape of the Curonian Spit he will try to outline some thoughts about a theory of “voicing the landscape”.

Hanna Husberg (FI/SE) is a Stockholm based artist. She graduated from ENSB-A, Paris in 2007, and is currently a PhD in Practice candidate at the academy of fine arts Vienna. Through a practice of video and installation projects she investigates how we perceive, and relate to our environment in times of anthropogenic climate change.

During the residency Hanna will work on her doctoral research project “Troubled Atmosphere ‒ On noticing air”. Through a focus on air projects inquire into how humans perceive and relate to their immediate, and expanded, surrounding. They do this through narratives of entanglement and material exchanges, through questions of perceptibility and visual representations, and through reflections on how changes in the atmosphere are (in)visibly transforming specific places, influencing the socioeconomic as well as the territorial realities of these locations.

Annette Arlander (FI) (b. 1956) is an artist, researcher and a pedagogue based in Helsinki. She is educated as theatre director, MA (philosophy) and DA (theatre and drama). She was professor of performance art and theory at Theatre Academy, Helsinki (2001‒2013), head of the Performing Arts Research Centre (2007‒2009) professor of artistic research and vice dean for research at University of the Arts Helsinki Theatre Academy (2015‒2016), visiting professor at Stockholm University of the Arts (2015‒2016) and professor of artistic research at Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki (2016). At present she is Postdoctoral Fellow in the Arts at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies. Arlander is a member of the editorial board of JAR (journal for artistic research), co-convener of the Artistic Research Working Group of PSI. She is the PI of the Academy of Finland funded research project How to Do Things with Performance. Her research interests include artistic research, performance as research, performance studies, site-specificity and the environment. Her artwork involves performing landscape by means of video or recorded voice, moving between performance art, video and environmental art.

During the residency Annette is planning to work on her artist research project “Performing with Plants”. She will try to find a few interesting trees in the area, visit them regularly for a time, and document those visits on video, perhaps also do some rough time-lapse videos with two-hour intervals for a day and night with some trees suitably located. And she will explore other ways of performing with trees and shrubs, responding to the environment. Besides that, she plans to do some video editing of previously recorded material, and work on some essays and event scores on performing landscape, especially on collaborating with trees. Her planned activities can be summarised as follows: 1) performing for video camera with specific trees, 2) exploring other modes of performing with plants, 3) video editing 4) writing of scores and essays.

Tomas Martisauskis (LT) (b. 1977) graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Vilnius Academy of Arts with an MA in visual arts in 2006. Since 2000 he has been participating in group shows in Lithuania and abroad, as well as holding solo shows regularly. Since 2007 he has been teaching sculpture, installation and drawing at Justinas Vienožinskis Art School in Vilnius. From 2013 Tomas is a member of the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association, and from 2014 he is an artist at APTGlobal ONE. In 2015 he started his PhD studies in Fine Arts at Vilnius Academy of Arts.

During the residency Tomas plans to work on an upcoming exhibition titled “Shifts and Continuations”, scheduled to be held in the “Post” gallery in Kaunas.
