Rees Archibald is australian artist at the moment in Lithuania. Since his late teens has been interested in how bodily activity can be used to direct consciousness. Rees makes work in which body, object, movement and resultant sounds act with the intention of “tuning psychology”.
The artist is increasingly focused on notions of negotiation. Of working between ideas of control and uncontrollability, of performance (being a performer) and audience (being a listener), between processes which allow a piece to run independently, and action he might take to interrupt a system.
During the residence NAC Rees Archibald will work on sonic sculpture using steel plates (such as this), and develop performative electronic sound works involving long ribbon controllers.

Stéphanie Roland (b. 1984) lives and works in Brussels. Her practice brought her to develop an international network through which she is called abroad to participate in many different artistic research projects and residencies. She has already participated in several exhibitions in international institutions notably in Athens (Benaki Museum), Brussels (Bozar, Botanique) and Los Angeles (MOPLA). She was recently shortlisted for HSBC award and Leica Oskar Barnack award.
Roland considers her studio as a laboratory; this space becomes a place where she explores notions of Time, Family and Memory. There she uses a multidisciplinary approach to work with a variety of media, making use of photography, film, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and digital technologies. Her strong interest in scientific disciplines like neurosciences, psychoanalysis, and astronomy also reveals new perspectives for her work.
In Nida Art Colony Stéphanie will focus on two works. The first one ‒ to develop a new multidisciplinary installation about the very high suicide rate in Lithuania, crossing borders between an intuitive documentary approach and a scientific study of light. The second part ‒ she wants continue to work on relationship between photography, video, sculpture, meanwhile creating a new sculpture made with layers of printed Plexiglas, which is questioning structure of Memory.
