- Published on Friday, 23 October 2015 09:03

During the last day of the Nida Doctoral School at Nida Art Colony a series of performative lectures wil take place. The week of intensive courses led by Julijonas Urbonas, Stephen Wright, Ingo Niermann and Vytautas Michelkevičius will be finalised on Friday, 23rd October with the series of performative-lectures.
The evening will start with Linda Stupart's performance lecture (5:30 pm) Cut thatuses practices of performative magic, including witchcraft, karaoke and Powerpoint to protect, curse and critique art bodies. The piece presents a consideration of the representational matrices of self-harm as a way to discuss relations between institutional bodies and corporeal ones as well as offering a furious critique of 'man abjection art', that is cis white men who produce safe, differentiated, heroic 'abject' artworks, whilst never engaging with their own objecthood (because they don't and have never have to).
Linda Stupart is an artist, writer and educator from Cape Town, South Africa. Her work deals with with questions of intimacy, objectification and materialism from queer and feminist positions. She is currently completing a PhD at Goldsmiths.
The evening will evolve with the presentation (6:00 pm) of "The Order of the Order: Mad Love and Failures of Conveyance in Interwar Paris" by The Order of the Third Bird. Members of the research consortium ESTAR(SER) will present compelling evidence linking an initiate of the Order of the Third Bird to the activities of the Parisian Surrealists in the 1930s.
ESTAR(SER) — The Esthetical Society for Transcendental and Applied Realization (now incorporating the Society for Esthetic Realizers) — is a private, dedicated body of amateurs, scholars, and interested parties who concern themselves with the historicity of The Order of the Third Bird. This community of researchers works to sift evidences of Bird-like attentional practices in the historical record, and to present those evidences to critical readers.
Later on Olivia Erlanger (7:00 pm) will give an artist talk, presenting a video essay and lecture that traces the relationship between her practice and recent research into hyperobjects, the commonalities between entheogens and the Unabomber and the rise of deprogrammed spaces. Olivia Erlanger(b.1990 in New York, USA) lives and works in New York.
The evening will end with the performative dinner “Friday: Final” by “Less Table”. During the Nida Doctoral School week “Less Table” has prepared the box series “What’s in a box” (Monday: Hidden, Tuesday: Hole, Wednesday: Spiral, Thursday: Finding). Project consisted of surprise boxes with instructions – provocations for collective action and DIY by finding, preparing and experiencing food.
“Less Table” is a design studio focused on food and eating process, food installations, food performances and event concepts.
