Elizabeth McTernan is an American artist based in Berlin. She explores different phenomena across scientific fields with an artist-research methodology. Elizabeth has gone to the Gobi Desert to test the distance a voice travels when making different sounds. In Odense Fjord in Denmark, she took measurements of the coastline of an unnamed island using parts of her body as measurement tools, and she visited the BIPM near Paris and BESSY in Berlin to investigate the true weight of the kilogram.
In Nida, Elizabeth McTernan will take measurements of the coast of the Curonian Spit at sea level and connect this to experiments to be made high above sea level in the Himalayas this August.
