Thijs Ebbe Fokkens and Pakui Hardware (Ugnius Gelguda and Neringa Černiauskaitė)
are artists in residence starting February.
Thijs Ebbe Fokkens (NL) art practice provides the means to contemplate, orientate and wonder. In his drawings, photographs and installations he evokes a space and place which transcends the literal & psychical in favor of the ambiguous & mental.
During his stay at NAC his artistic practice will engage with the projection of meaning onto the Curonian Spit, in context of the long term international exchange between NAC and Dutch art organization Satellietgroep. In her Liminal Labs Program Satellietgroep invites artists in residence to do fieldwork on site, connect arts to science, policy, citizens science and the general audience with the aim is to develop new works and insights that reflect the shifting relations of man and nature in the Netherlands and abroad.

Pakui Hardware is a brand name (courtesy of Alex Ross, NY) of a collaboration between Ugnius Gelguda and Neringa Černiauskaitė (LT) set up in 2014. In their latest projects, the artists continue their research on the relationship between materiality/body and the reality generated by the rapid development of technologies. This relationship is analysed and tested through such ideas and subjects as transhumanism, High-Frequency Trading, and synthetic biology.
During their residency at Nida Art Colony, Pakui Hardware will create a virtual small-scale exhibition in a vast physical space. The exhibition is a commission by a Berlin-based magazine KubaParis, in whose pages the exhibition will finally reach the viewer.
