“Being this close to nature has never been more exciting" says the voice-over and how couldn’t it be, you're now wearing a new pair of Conquest HD binoculars by Carl Zeiss.

“Large and isolated in the gleaming whiteness of the page, the hawk stares back at you, bold, statuesque, brightly coloured. But when you have shut the book, you will never see that bird again. Compared with the close and static image, the reality will seem dull and disappointing. The living bird will never be so large, so shiny-bright. It will be deep in the landscape, and always sinking farther back, always at the point of being lost. Pictures are waxworks beside the passionate mobility of the living bird.” – writes an Englishman J.A. Baker in his diary.

11.14, 6 p.m. Artists Rūta Junevičiūtė (LT) and Nicholas Matranga (US), Neringa Municipality Grant holders, introduce their project “Č“ in a talk detailing the joys of being “out on the water, fishing with John,” observational technology and techniques, Cultural anthropology and other interests stemming from their investigation of bird watching.
