Nida A-I-R in October

In the beginning of October two new artists have joined in Nida Art Colony: Alice Pamuk from France and Phillip Schulze from Germany.

Alice Pamuk
Alice Pamuk's work is of a delicate and imperceptible kind. It is often encountered through performance, sound installations and writing but mostly through a form of translation of language and it's experience. Finding within the realm of physical experiences the formal impossibility is often transmuted by a simple twist of imagination. The acute transformed experience albeit simple and uncanny often triggers a paradox between the humorous and the conceptual.
During her residency at Nida, Alice Pamuk will be researching empirical ways to achieve high sound quality. She noticed that when you dig into what high sound quality is, concepts of wealth and poorness are strangely imbricated. By inventing new ways to realize a sophisticated and aseptic sound, she will question the listening standards through which our audio world is mediated.

Phillip Schulze
Phillip Schulze is a German composer and visual artist. He develops site-specific sound, light and video installations, multi-sensory compositions and intense temporary environments with an aim at finding intersection and repulsion points between visual, auditory and physical experiences as well as relations among participants, objects and site.
In Nida he will continue working on a body of video recordings for his acoustic sculpture “Dystotal”, an eight hours long electroacoustic composition / installation that was premiered at the Pori Art Museum Finnland in January 2014.
