Nida Art Colony is glad to invite you once again for German film days events, brought to us by Goethe Institut Vilnius. This year we'll have the possibility to see two films from the German film days programme, which are "Kaddisch für einen Freund", directed by Leo Khasid (Thursday, the 20th of March, 19.00) and "Die Vermessung der Welt", dir. by Detlev Buck (Saturday, the 22nd of March, 19.00).
"Kaddish for a Friend" shows a fourteen-year-old Ali. The boy lives with his family in Germany, having escaped the war in Palestine. With the conflict in their homeland barely a memory they harbour lingering resentment towards Jews. On a neighbourhood dare he raids the apartment of his neighbour, Alexander Zamskoy, but is spotted by the old man and reported to police. In order to avoid a conviction Ali must make amends to the man he has wronged, and an intense friendship develops.
"Measuring of the World" on Saturday will tell you a story about science v/s belief. Most human beings don't know why they are on earth, they accept their destiny and try to survive.
The two enthusiastic scientists Carl Friedrich Gauß and Alexander von Humboldt go on an extraordinary adventure to fight against their predetermination.
German filmdays in Nida Art Colony are free of charge.
