NAC invites you to play revolution

Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts invites you to celebrate the day of the Act of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania (11th of March) along with us while watching the film "How We Played the Revolution" by Giedrė Žickytė, presented by the Author Cinema Alliance.

The story of the film begins in 1984, the very beginning of perestroika in USSR, when a group of architects decided to organize a one night music band as a New Year’s party in Kaunas, Lithuania. What started out as a joke, became serious: rumors about the new exciting rock band ANTIS spread from lips to lips.
Imposing make-up and props, stylized show, and lyrics were creating a caricature of the Soviet propaganda and perfectly discrediting the absurd of the Soviet reality.
Soon their intellectual clownery grew into the Rock Marches – massive events involving thousands of people – that in their turn transformed into big meetings for Lithuanian Independence later named the Singing Revolution.
The film features scenes from personal video archives, musical excerpts from the concerts, scandalous show of the band in the Soviet television, as well as comments by the participants of the events.
