This Thursday, January the 16th, at 6:00 pm VAA Nida Art Colony invites you to one more film evening. This time on screen – quirky Portuguese comedy "Recollections of the Yellow House" by João César Monteiro.

Portuguese film “Recollections of the Yellow House” (orig. Recordações da Casa Amarela, dir. João César Monteiro, 1989, 122 min.) won a silver lion at the 1989 Venice Film Festival. The story concerns the irrepressible Joao de Deus (played by the director, Joao Cesar Monteiro), an ill-kempt, lusty and none-too-honest resident of Violeta's boarding house, which happens to have yellow walls. Joao, who has no visible means of support, is in his fifties, and is not above cadging money from his 70 year old mother, who still works as a cleaning lady. He is seeking relief in Shubert’s music, cinema and has a wistful sort of lust for the young ladies in the boarding house. But one day Joao is kicked out from the boarding house and has to face a severe reality of the city life.
The film will be screened in Portuguese with English subtitles. It continues the thematic program "Winter Satantango" by "Meno Avilys" in Nida Art Colony. Entrance is free of charge, everyone is welcome for a cup of tea and good cinema!
