Take yourself to NAC on the second Christmas day

Although it's lazy Christmas time, we in Nida Art Colony never stop. Would you?

For the upcoming six Thursdays, starting with the second day of Christmas, 26th of December, we've invited Meno Avilys to present a program of their choice to the colonists and all those in Nida who appreciate good film.

Thus Meno Avilys has developed a winter-darkness program "Winter Satantango" - we believe you won't be scared of the name as we all probably have been through the seven hours of "Satantango" by Bella Tarr. As "Meno Avilys" has put it, "the unknown, the impossible to explain, is not always only scary, it might also push you to see deeper into it."

The first film of the program, that'll be screened tomorrow at 18.00, is "Hors Satan" by Bruno Dumont (2011).

You'll probably notice a repetition of the snowless Lithuanian landscape in the screen, although the action is based in Northern Flanders. Sea, swamp, sand, impassable shrubberies all become a landscape in-between the worlds - this and beyond. A lone man is wandering the land, raising the question if he is a Satan or God himself. The prayers and the rituals of the messiah (or pretender) are a prediction of an End. Or of a Beginning. Or, perhaps, a miracle.

Film will be screened in original language w.English subtitles.

As are all the good things in life, as is good cinema in Nida Art Colony - free of charge.

And if you want to make yourself at home, please do - bring a pair of woolen socks and some cookies perhaps, we'll see to the tea!
