This Thursday, on the 28th of November, at 6 pm Nida Art Colony invites you to a penultimate cinema evening of the art documentary program prepared by studio "Nominum". This time on screen – a full-lenght film "UB Lama" by young Lithuanian director Eglė Vertelytė.

"UB Lama" (2011, 50 min.) is a film about a problematic 12 year-old Mongolian kid Galbatrakh (Galaa), who has no father, tries to survive in Mongolian ger (Mongolian house) district by selling goods in a black market and skipping his school. However, one day his mother decides that Galaa should try becoming a lama, a Buddhist monk. This becomes boy’s dream and a plan of survival. Galaa visits Pethub, one of the most disciplined Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia, and tries to be accepted. In order to achieve this aim, he needs to study hard, get permission from different high lamas and pass through complicated bureaucracy of the monastery. Will he succeed?

Eglė Vertelytė (b. 1983) graduated from history studies at Vilnius University. She continued her studies at the European Film College in Denmark, where she has made her first short films.
