Autumn evenings are getting longer while the program of creative documentary Thursdays in Nida Art Colony, organised by cinema studio “Nominum”, little by little is going to the end – only three screening evenings are left. This Thursday, on the 21st of November at 6:00 pm, we invite you to jolt on our soft coach and enjoy four short films by Lithuanian director Audrius Stonys. Besides, the author is going to visit NAC and take part in the screening, so if you ever had any questions for him but never asked, don’t miss this chance!

On screen:
“Antigravitation” (1995, 18 min.). “After we finished shooting “Earth of the blind” I was holding the impression of man climbing a big chimney for two years. How does the world look like from such empyrean? What holds man between earth and sky? How does the world look like from roofs of churches? These questions were the starting point. I wanted to share this impression of breathlessness when you rise up very high.”
“Flying over the blue field” (1996, 20 min.) is a movie about loneliness in infinite sky. Man stays with himself, home-made plane and balance on the limit between death and life.
“Alone” (2001, 28 min.) – a film about immeasurable loneliness of child, only loneliness and nothing more. Story was shoot without any manipulation means. Trip to prison, meeting, way home. That’s all. Movie leading to ethical problem, how deep into person’s pain we can interfere, documentary can interfere.
"Flight over Lithuania or 510 seconds of silence" (2000, 8 min., directed by Audrius Stonys and Arūnas Matelis). The film features an incredibly low angel's flight over the dunes of Nida, Trakai castle, the lakes of Aukštaitija (Highlands), the roofs of the Old Town of Vilnius and the fantastically beautiful church steeples. It's like a mystical gliding just above the treetops, meadows covered by early morning mist, as well as the narrow streets of Vilnius.
Audrius Stonys (b. 1966) is one of the best known film directors and producers in the contemporary Lithuanian cinema and the only one whose film “Earth of the Blind” (1992) has received European Film Academy award “FELIX” as the Best European Documentary film of the Year. Since 1989 A. Stonys has made 14 films as an independent filmmaker and producer and got many international awards. During 15 years of creative work this director stayed faithful to himself, maintained peculiar understanding of the cinema and ability to interpretate things poetically.
Film Thursdays in the colony - as are all the good things - are for free. Come for a cup of tea and good cinema!
