Street Art in Nida Art Colony with music and visual performances on 15th Nov

On the forthcoming weekend, the 15-16th of November, VAA Nida Art Colony invites locals and late autumnal tourists to face the transformation process of the hanger – through live sound and video performance and open street art workshop a neighboring warehouse from soviet times will become “Artgar”. With these events NAC wants to bid a farewell to the old colony space - hanger - one of few urban-industrial buildings in Nida.

During the upcoming year the hanger is going to be reconstructed into a new centre for PhD students, exhibitions, film screenings, conferences and other artistic/educational needs. But before the reconstruction it was decided to revitalize a crummbled off facade of the hanger and in a collaboration with the artistic team from “Vilnius Street Art” festival create a painting that would integrate the building into the forest environment. The concept of the painting was dictated by local nature, actualities (a racoon that steals the food from colonists) and colours of paints provided by a sponsoring company “Exterus”. The first session of drawing took place on the 1-3rd of November. Street artists Rapolas Vosylius and Petras Navickas suggested to enliven the painting with adding wooden nesting-boxes and installing solar lamps inside of them that the painting would be lively even in the dark.

The main and final event of the farewell will take place this Friday, the 15th of November, during the birthday of Neringa town. At 9:00 pm VJ Lukas Miceika and musician-composer Paulius Kilbauskas will start their live performance in the hanger, don’t miss it!

On weekend, from 1:00 pm on Friday and the whole Saturday, Nida Art Colony together with organizers of “Vilnius Street Art” festival invite youths as well as everyone interested in street art to attend a day-long workshop and create a collective painting on hanger walls.
