In April 5 new residents arrived in the Colony. Two of them ( Gilles Furtwängler (CH) and Adrien Siberchicot (FR) are starting thematic residency On Critical Tourism which will end up with Inter-format Symposium in the end of May. All the residents will stay 2 months.

Adrien Siberchicot (FR) is an artist based in Paris, working mainly with video, installation and text. He received is MFA in 2012 in Sweden at Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg where he started to develop a practice which articulates notions of tourism, landscape and travel narratives. He is invited to Nida Art Colony, during April and May 2013 where he will develop an investigation linking the collective experience of tourism with the specific landscape of the area.
Brett Sroka (USA) is a composer and sound artist for film, dance, installations and his own ensembles, in which he is a trombonist and computer electronic musician. His work explores technology in the context of free improvisation and modern composition, particularly with the use of a Max/MSP software instrument that can reflect and process sound in real-time. He has led the minimal, electro-acoustic trio Ergo on three CD releases, most recently, "If Not Inertia", from Cuneiform Records. While at Nida Art Colony he will work on a fourth record entitled, "As Subtle As Tomorrow", writing pieces in which parts played by the traditional instruments of the group are transformed into electronic sound as the compositions develop. In relation to this idea, he will also continue work on a generative performance/sound installation which he began earlier this year at the Institute of Electronic Arts at Alfred University in New York.
Anna Clawson and Nicole Ward (N. I) have been working collaboratively since 2010. They live and work in Bristol (UK) where they are studio holders at Spike Island. Their practice currently encompasses sculpture, drawing and video. They have been meticulous in the choice of location for their first artist residency together, and have an ambitious attitude to introducing new approaches to space and scale to their work. Nida Art Colony will provide them with the time to explore the progressive relationship between their video and sculptural objects.
Gilles Furtwängler (CH) works across mediums of performance, spoken word, text, print, live sculpture and everything beyond and in between. He seeks to and is interested in
Print images in people's brains.
Word's sculpture, sounds and sense's sculpture.
Cut in the mass of subjects unique to humans,
separate them into fragments, pick to form texts.
Images-texts that create mental images.
Radical texts wherein gentleness takes over from anger.
Texts where concepts, specific choice of words, stories compressed down to lay bare their basic
essence, to extract the fluid of the meaning, sometimes futile, absurd, sometimes full of commonsense, in the continuous flow of reality and banality.
These texts are then declaimed during public performances and also printed in poster forms.
