Students enrolled at Vilnius Academy of Arts are invited to participate in an Erasmus+ internship at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2023, where the project "Children's Forest Pavilion", organised by Nida Art Colony (NMK) of Vilnius Academy of Arts, will be presented.

The internship is open from mid-May to the end of November.

If you are interested, please fill in the motivational form by 18 February. The Pavilion curators will interview selected candidates in English via a video call from 20 to 24 February.

The selected students will have an Erasmus+ funded internship of 2-3 months.

During the internship, students will be involved in 2 types of activities.

Exhibition supervision:
- working at the Pavilion during opening hours;
- maintenance of the exhibition and installation;
- interacting with visitors of the Pavilion;
- information and explanation of the exhibition;
- discussions with the curators about the content of the exhibition and the objects and themes of the exhibition prior to the start of the work in the Pavilion.

Documentation of the exhibition:
- a diary documenting visitors' questions;
- recording the number of visitors;
- reflection on the theme of the Venice Architecture Biennale, Laboratory of the Future, based on the Children's Forest Pavilion exhibition, the pavilions of other countries and the Biennale's leading exhibition, in the form of an illustrated text at the end of the practice.

Interns are expected to be independent in their tasks, to have a very good knowledge of spoken English (knowledge of other languages, especially Italian, would be an advantage), to be interested and knowledgeable about Lithuanian culture, architecture, environmental policy and global environmental relations, to be interested in the materials used in architecture, their sustainability, forest resources and wood materials, and in educational methods.

Accommodation in Venice will be provided by the organisers of the Pavilion.

The Children's Forest Pavilion is a playscape, immersive space and installation designed to reveal the periods, processes and forces that have shaped the forests of Lithuania and the Baltic Sea region in the past, and, most importantly, how they will evolve in the future. Children and young people play a key role in the creation and curation of this installation, as consultants, collaborators and the ideal audience for the pavilion. The pavilion is designed as an educational platform, focusing on a cyclical paradigm of sustainability and biodiversity issues related to the forest, its imagination, planning, maintenance and management processes.

Nida Art Colony (NAC) is a branch of Vilnius Academy of Arts, located in the special and exceptional cultural landscape of the Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As an inventive platform, NMK organises a residency programme and the Nida Doctoral School, as well as art, education and research projects. NMK has participated in the Venice Biennale, where it presented Dainius Liškevičius' project Museum and the opera Sun and Sea (Marina) by Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė and Lina Lapelytė. This year's Venice Architecture Biennale marks the first time that Vilnius Academy of Arts NMK will participate in this event.
