September - October 2022 current artists-in-residence at NAC Mila Kostiana and Gulnara Shevchenko conduct workshops for children in the Neringa community. Workshops are conducted in Ukrainian, English, and Russian with possible translation to Lithuanian.

 

Painting workshop for parents

Friday, 23 September at 5 pm

We welcome parents to join this workshop on their own. Participants will learn how painting can help release stress and be a helpful mindfulness practice.

 

Making of a ceramic doll – part I

Saturday, 24 September at 5 pm

Children will make puppet dolls out of clay and fabric. Participants will learn how to work with complex shapes and techniques.

 

Making of a ceramic doll – part II

Sunday, 25 September at 5 pm

Kids will continue working with puppet dolls they started making in the previous workshop. New students will be welcomed as well.

 

Abstract sculptures – part IV. Theory and practice

Tuesday, 27 September at 5 pm

Kids will work with the concepts of shape and perspective through pottery making. Children will continue learning contemporary sculpting basics and its possible concepts. Participants of this workshop will create small abstract sculptures. Participants should follow up with another master class to fire and glaze the artwork to finish the work.

 

Embroidery session and ‘Sweet Dreams Foundation’ exhibition tour for kids, 10+

Thursday, 29 September at 5 pm

Children are welcome to tour the NAC exhibition ‘Sweet Dreams Foundation’ and learn more about contemporary art and Ukrainian art specifically. At the end of a tour, kids will embroider their art pieces on the participatory artwork ‘Roots.’

 

Neo-Pop Art

Friday, 30 September at 5 pm

Participants will learn how to paint in a technique of Neo-Pop Art. Parents are also welcome to join this workshop.

 

Ceramics modeling practice with play dough

Saturday, 01 October at 5 pm

Kids will learn different sculpting techniques. In addition, participants will work with play dough and study the elasticity and plasticity of clay. 

 

Making of a ceramic doll – part III

Sunday, 02 October at 5 pm

Children will learn how to make toys out of clay on their own. Participants will create tiny dolls that they will later glaze and sand with pottery tools.

 

Ceramics workshops for parents

Friday, 07 October at 5 pm

We welcome parents to join this workshop on their own. Participants will create aroma lamps out of clay that they can later use as a day-to-day relaxation tool.

 

Ceramics workshop – glazing

Saturday, 08 October at 5 pm

Participants will learn how to glaze pottery, combine different colors and properly prepare ceramics for the final firing process.

 

Abstract sculptures – part V

Sunday, 09 October at 5 pm

Participants of this workshop will work with a concept of sculpture making. Participants should follow up with another master class to fire and glaze the artwork to finish the work.

 

The program is updated every two weeks from September to December.


If some of the participants haven’t finished their work at the workshop, they are welcome to return and finalize their projects.
