Work in Progress: Laima Kreivytė's Documentation of the Invisible Life in Neringa
We are very much looking forward to the upcoming work with the artist, curator and writer Laima Kreivytė on a publication dedicated to housing questions in Nida and Neringa. Together with the artist and photographer Ineta Armanavičiūtė, Kreivytė will pick up her work Antropology of the Underground that she conducted as part of Critical Tourism residency at NAC in 2013.
The project aims to document the invisible life in Neringa, capturing those living spaces the locals have established while renting out their apartments to the summer tourists. The first part of the project - a photo exhibition - was presented in Agila culture and tourist information center in 2013. During the months May and June the artists live and work in residency at NAC, update their materials and work towards the publication to be finalized by the end of 2022.
Laima Kreivytė, based in Vilnius, is an artist, curator, writer and lecturer at Vilnius Academy of Arts. Kreivytė is curator of the Lithuanian pavillion at the 53d Venice Biennale and the Vilnius National Art Gallery's permanent installation. Kreivytė has published poetry books: Sapfo skai(s)tykla, Artumo aritmetika, catalogues of Marija Teresė Rožanskaitė and Kęstutis Zapkus, as well as participated in exhibitions with the Cooltūristės collective.
Ineta Armanavičiūtė is part of the Cooltūristės collective, works with photography, videoart and graphic design.
