Kids Workshops at NAC for Neringa Ukrainian Community

Current artists in residence Tanya Denysenko and Mila Kostiana have initiated and will conduct workshop series for children and young adults from Ukraine who are residing in Neringa.

 

Printing workshop – dadaism and futurism posters

29 May, 12:30 pm

 

Participants will discover the basic ideas behind the dadaism and futurism movements and learn how to create a balanced composition using typographical instruments. In the process children will use letterpress and different shapes and forms to print their own poster. Kids will also try to find some inspiration for their work in Ukrainian futurist literature. 


Printing workshop – word cards of local fauna in Lithuanian and Ukrainian

 

5 June, 12:30 pm


Children will have an opportunity to find out more about fauna in Neringa, discovering different species through books and photographs. Throughout the process, kids will draw the images of local animals and print them, using a printing press. Finally, students will create word cards with the images they just printed. Cards will depict different animal and their names in Lithuanian and Ukrainian languages.  


Ceramics workshop


12 June, 12:30 pm


Kids will learn how to create basic forms and figures out of clay. Participants will follow step by step process of pottery making (sketching, making, drying, trimming, firing and glazing). 


Printing workshop – local nature


25 June, 12:30 pm


Children will have an opportunity to examine different local plants (branches, leaves, moss etc.) and create an abstract layered composition, using printing press and said materials. Kids will find out more about flora in Neringa and compare this information with their knowledge of plants in Ukraine, Lithuania or other regions.

 

Workshops are conducted in Ukrainian and English.


If some of the participants haven’t finished their work at the workshop, they will be welcome to return and finalize their projects.
