Nida Art Colony and AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Niederösterreich in Krems have conducted an annual residency exchange since 2013. Once more we invite artists based in Lithuania to apply for the residency in Krems for 2 July–30 August, 2020.
Application deadline: 30 September, 2019.

AIR – ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Niederösterreich is a multidisciplinary fellowship program located in Krems an der Donau. The program gives architects, visual artists, musicians, and writers the opportunity to live and work in Lower Austria for a period of one to three months and to get to know the entire spectrum of local cultural institutions. In turn, AIR organizes residencies for Lower Austrian artists across Europe and overseas in conjunction with international-exchange partnerships.

In addition to realizing exhibitions, concerts, readings, and workshops, particular emphasis is placed on the production of work on site. In the broadest sense, the aim is to facilitate and support the entirety of potential artistic forms of articulation and presentation, as well as to reflect on and engage discursively with the various ways of working.

Interdisciplinary Exchange Program

Every year, up to 50 fellows are invited to Krems together with the project partners (Province of Lower Austria – Art and Culture Department, Galerie Stadtpark, Kunsthalle Krems, Karikaturmuseum Krems, NÖ Festival and Kino GmbH, ORTE Lower Austrian Architecture Network, Unabhängiges Literaturhaus NÖ). Each guest artist is provided one of five live-work apartments. Throughout the entire residency, artists receive ongoing assistance and curatorial support in realizing their artistic projects.

So that the diversity of contemporary artistic practices can be fully appreciated, AIR focuses on connecting artists and their approaches to existing art and cultural institutions in Lower Austria and Vienna.
