On the 3rd of February, exhibition In the Sand by Kristina Marić (HR) opened its doors at Nida Art Colony’s temporary project space Kiosk.

According to Kristina Marić, the departure from everyday life, control, and the eyes of others aim to cultivate the human need to escape from the world of dehumanization we live in. With this absurd act of suspension of the own view of reality, the author is warning us about what we have forcibly removed from our own memory and in front which we shut our eyes. The artist was inviting the visitors to join her in an act of sinking into the sphere of the unknown, dirty, and hidden.

Kristina Marić studied Fine Arts and Multimedia at the Academy of Arts in Osijek, Croatia. Through performances and multimedia installations, the artist assumes a position which varies from an active provocation to an intentional and consciously elected passivity. She uses absurd moments in her work to penetrate beyond the ordinary, everyday experience of reality. Her goal is to provoke the viewers way of seeing the world and her own artistic position.
