In the unicorn project Heike Schäfer (AT/DE) has connected scientific knowledge and her artistic practice. While studying scientific texts up from the 16th century about unicorns and migration, she observed, collected, analyzed and interpreted found traces and objects in the surroundings which could have a link to this topic. A trunk of a tree, which serves as a reference to a unicorn‘s horn, Heike is planning to bring back to nature to possibly be re-discovered or dissolved. During the residency, Lynette Smith (AU) has been working on time-based and site-specific drawings, moving image and text. Anne Glassner (AT) led a "power nap" session for visitors. During the residency, Anne has been working on sleep and lucid dreams research, as well as developing photography series "Sleeping on ice", „The Blue Hour“. Veronika Burger (AT) has been working on a relationship between Lithuanian old cinemas (as film, performance archives) and architecture (perceiving a building as a tool for keeping collective memory) by focusing on the absence and fading presence of the spectators. Marta Forsberg (SE) presented a performative installation, based on her personal diary and collaboration with other residents. As a starting point, Marta used a lighthouse and shape of a hexagon. During her residency, Katherine Behar (US) developed a video and a text connected with environmental sensing and nonhuman sense. Veronika's residence is funded by The Austrian Federal Chancellery Division II: Arts |
