| On February 27th, Colony's residents Heike Schäfer (DE/AT), Veronika Burger (AT), Takako Yamaguchi (JP), Yen Noh (KR) and Marcel Tarelkin (DE) presented their projects at the Open Studios. |
| Open Studios began in the project space KIOSK. Heike Schäfer (AT/DE) presented her installation Come and Go that deals with recent historical past, migration and restriction, illusion and disillusion. The access to the tiny space comes from underground. It looks like someone left traces by coming in, shortly stayed and then went back to the underground.
Installation will be available until the 26th of March. The project is partially funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. The patron of the project is Andrius Tamaliūnas The event continued at the Colony where Veronika Burger (AT) presented a video which deals with issues of non-archiving and the mechanisms of rewriting history including the possibilities of rewriting it through the feministic process as a circular act of power. A boundary as a starting point dominates in the artworks by Takako Yamaguchi (JP). It could be moving, stable, broken, waving etc. as well as aesthetically connected with the sense of nature. Yen Noh (KR) has been focusing on her research Island Thinking as a New Thinking of Collectivity. She presented her summary of her research and evoked a discussion on the topic whether island thinking can be collective beyond its bounds. During the residency Marcel Tarelkin (DE) has been working on the furniture design for kids and deconstructing IKEA production for other purposes: religion, punishment and games. He was interested in how a specific body posture or movement can shape furniture. |
