Ola Vasiljeva is a Latvian-born, Amsterdam-based artist. Her practice is informed by theatricality and often seeks to subvert a sense of place, bringing the work into the realms of fiction and stage. Vasiljeva’s work is concerned with notions of decline, the collapse of knowledge systems, and social and cultural temporalities.

She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Utrecht Academy of Arts in 2005 and was a resident at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 2008–2009. She has had solo exhibitions at Art in General (New York), BOZAR Centre (Brussels), Passerelle Contemporary Art Centre (Brest), Kunstverein München, Kunstverein Graz, Kaiser Wilhelm Museum (Krefeld), de Appel (Amsterdam), Vleeshal (Middelburg), Indipendenza Roma (Rome) and kim? Contemporary Art Centre (Riga), among others.
