Marissa Lee Benedict and David Rueter are visual artists from the US, living and working in Amsterdam. Presenting as a collaborative duo for over a decade, their site-adapted videos, sculptures, installations, and drawings intercept and rewrite infrastructural platforms and linguistic protocols of the official world. Focusing their gaze on the objects, processes, and myths that participate in property, possession, infrastructure, and archive, Benedict and Rueter’s works are documented performances that employ materiality, voice, intimacy, and at times their own bodies to short-circuit colonial logics and cybernetic fantasies. They have exhibited their work in the 34th Bienal de São Paulo; 16th Venice Architecture Biennale; Msheireb Museums, Doha, Qatar; The Renaissance Society, Chicago; The Arts Club of Chicago; and Contemporary Art Brussels. They have participated in residencies at Rupert, Vilnius; Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada, Jan van Eyck Academie. Maastricht;, and Headlands Center for the Arts, Sausalito, California.
