- Residency period: Autumn 2018
Julia Heurling is based in Stockholm, Sweden. With a background as a pattern designer, her current work as an artist and researcher is engaged with visual thinking informed by repetition. This is explored through multiple photographic compositions as typology, sequence, or pattern, as two- or three-dimensional objects. In her work, taking photographs is a way to deconstruct a visual experience into separate constituents. This reflects on both what is observed and the observation itself. Subsequent compositional work is a way to process and synthesize the photographic material, in search for narrative and representation beyond content of separate images.
