- Residency period: Autumn 2024
- Individual Residency
Helga Packevičiūtė is a Lithuanian-born and Canada-based artist interested in physical abstraction and materiality. She primarily works in process-focused sculptural objects through a practice that oscillates between art and architecture.
Materials in architecture and design are often used in regular and expected ways, and as such tend to produce regular and expected results. In searching for new ways of making, Packevičiūtė explores the tension of anticipated constancy to create works that transport methods and techniques deployed in different contexts. By using materials in new and unexpected ways, Packevičiūtė is able to explore the relationship between our perception and the natural and built environment.
Her residency with Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts is Packevičiūtė’s first European residency during which she seeks to cultivate the relationship between the environment, design and art community and her own artistic practice.
