A few months ago we announced an open call for applications for our A-I-R programme at Nida Art Colony between August 2017 and July 2018. Since 2011 the Colony has been hosting about 50 artists, designers, architects, curators and art researchers per year. This year we have received a three-digit number of applications from 40 countries across almost all of the continents. We feel happy and grateful for this enthusiasm!

The discourses around public art have become thickly intertwined with those of cities and urban development. Little of this discourse, however, has addressed the specificities and disruptions presented by the notion of rural publics and rural public spaces. As an artist-run organization, located in rural Sweden, dedicated to long-term, place-based research, Rejmyre Art Lab in collaboration with Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts (NAC) invites proposals for the upcoming seminar Reconstituting Rurality on 7–10 of May at Nida Art Colony.
