Application & Selection Guidelines

The programme is open to professional artists, designers, architects, art critics, curators, art theoreticians and culture managers from Lithuania and abroad, by invitation and/or individual application. The programme is not available to students. If grants together with a call are not announced, artists should pay rent or look for grants themselves. After selection procedure, we can write supporting letter. Due to a large number of applications, we inform only selected applicants.

Recommended duration of the residency is at least 2 months.

Selection is based on artistic merit and the quality of artistic practice. This is assessed on the basis of the following information:

- application for artist-in-residence programme (please download), which includes artist statement and activity/project proposal while in residency

- CV
- examples of previous work (portfolio)

All applicants are expected to be fluent in English.

The selection is made by the NAC Board.

Rental fees if grant is not announced (including monthly charges for heating, electricity, water and internet as well as use of bicycle, equipment and communal spaces) are:

400 Euros per month all year through
300 Euros per month October to May for Lithuanian residents

Each residency starts the 1st of the month, only whole months are available.

Only electronic applications are accepted. Please write “Residency Application” in the subject line. The attachments must not exceed 10 MB.

Working retreat

Artists and other creative practitioners not participating in the artist-in-residence programme but still willing to spend 2-3 weeks or a month at Nida Art Colony can apply for a working retreat (only for the October-April period) in the smaller studios. Please fill out the application for a work retreat and send it by email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
There is no deadline. Applications will be reviewed upon submission. The decision is made within 5 working days. The spaces are allocated depending on their availability.

Payment 

You are required to pay for the first month of your residency no later than 3 months before the start of your residency month. If you fail to pay on time NAC is free to invite another artist into your slot.
You are required to pay for the second month of your residency during the first week of your arrival to NAC. The same applies for the subsequent months - e. g. you pay during the first week of April for the residency in May. If you fail to pay on time NAC is free to invite another artist into your slot.
You are welcome to pay for the whole duration of your residency at once, 3 months before the residency starts.

Cancellation and Refunds

 If you have already paid and your plans changed we practice this cancellation policy:

-        Full refund minus bank charges if you warn us 2 months prior to the start of your residency month*;

-        Half refund if you warn us 3 weeks prior to the start of your residency month*;

-        No refund if you warn us less than 3 weeks prior to the start of your residency month*.

 

The same policy applies in case of cancellation of the second/subsequent residency month.

We always prefer to reschedule the residency than to return funds. Rescheduling is possible if you warn us no later than 2 months prior to the start of the first agreed residency month* and no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of the second/subsequent residency month*.

Refunds are made within 2 weeks after receiving the cancellation.

Please take into consideration that funds can only be returned to the account they came from.

* The start of your residency month is not your arrival date, but the first day of the month.
