The open studios in October have started with the VAA Nida Art Colony resident Lydia Nsiah (AT). Lydia has been working on her ongoing project, which deals with oblivion as a process. Using expired films, the artist takes a risk of failure or success. Evy Jokhova (EE/UK) has also been working on her ongoing research into the historical value of stone and its cultural significance. Evy presented a site-specific installation titled “Lighthouse”. Ditte Knus Tønnesen (DK) investigates the relationship between landscape and the human being. Using the techniques of printing and engraving, Ditte has produced a number of spatial sketches. Matilde Duus (DK) has been working on the eye, vision, and optic research. Reversed image, light, anthropometric measurement, the circle shape etc. have guided her new creative process using engraver and paper. Paulius Petraitis / Paul Paper (LT) has been working on organizing an international symposium titled “Pointed or Pointless? Recalibrating the Index”. His project “A man with dark hair and a sunset in the background” explores artificial intelligence and image recognition.
